ICERAYS ANNOUNCE NEWS/TALK 1440 KEYS AS NEW FLAGSHIP STATION; RYAN HOLT TO CALL ALL THE ACTION
Corpus Christi, TX - October 5, 2010
Corpus Christi IceRays’ General Manager Pat Dunn announced today that beginning with this Saturday’s game against the New Mexico Mustangs, News/Talk 1440 KEYS will be the new flagship station of the Rays for the 2010-11 NAHL season. In addition, the team also announced the hiring of Ryan Holt as its new broadcaster and head of media relations. Holt, 22, will provide play-by-play broadcasting beginning with a 15-minute pre-game show for every IceRays’ contest on 1440 KEYS and streaming online at www.1440keys.com/rays. Also, the station will carry a weekly coach’s show featuring Holt, head coach Brent Hughes and many guest appearances throughout the season at a time and place yet to be determined.
“We’re so pleased to call 1440 KEYS as our new home for this season,” said Dunn. “We’re in a new league this year, with new players, and now a new flagship station. It’s an exciting time for Corpus Christi hockey fans and now our fans will be able to listen both on the radio and online. The IceRays are looking forward to what will be a great partnership with 1440 KEYS.”
News/Talk 1440 KEYS General Manager Rodney Brown echoed Dunn’s thoughts. “The IceRays have been a fixture in this area for over a decade and it’s great for us to bring fans their hockey coverage for this season,” Brown said. “It’s a great addition to our programming.”
The station, owned by Malkan Broadcasting, is already home to University of Texas football and the Benchwarmers sports program which airs on Sundays from 10am-12pm. The Benchwarmers will provide a weekly Rays Report which will feature game recaps, upcoming promotions and special appearances from members of the IceRays.
When the team hits the ice, Holt will provide all the live action as the IceRays begin their quest for the NAHL’s championship, the Robertson Cup. A Boston native, Holt graduated from Holy Cross (MA) in May and has broadcasted over 200 games with Holy Cross, St. Lawrence (NY) University, and the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League. In addition to his broadcasting duties, Holt will be in charge of the team’s media relations efforts, radio sales and creating new sponsorship opportunities.
Now in their inaugural season in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), the Corpus Christi IceRays get set to host the New Mexico Mustangs on Saturday October 9th at 7:05 PM. Be sure to catch all the live action on News/Talk 1440 KEYS, online at www.1440keys.com/rays, with the voice of the IceRays, Ryan Holt, and beginning with the Rays pre-game show at 6:50 PM. The game will also be broadcast through the league’s pay-per-view service online at www.fasthockey.com.
